Paul Alberts, a life-long resident of Prince George, established Ardor Media in 2007 while working as a writer, producer and editor at CKPG-TV. To avoid a conflict of interest issue with the station, Ardor strictly produced documentaries and shooting still photography.
In total, the company has released three documentaries to date and has two currently in production. Folkfest documented the 2007 Prince George Folkfest festival, the final year for the event; Prince George Coldsnap 2008: A Look Back featured the 2008 Prince George Coldsnap Music Festival and was shot entirely in HD; and Cops for Cancer: Tour de North followed police officers raising money for cancer research, and was also shot in HD. Ardor's photography clients include the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, CBC Radio 3, Hockey Canada, and the British Columbia Medical Association. After Paul left CKPG in January 2009, the restrictions on the types of productions have been lifted, and Ardor has since shot footage for CTV News Vancouver and the Vancouver Island Health Authority for a research project here in Prince George. The company has also assisted the Pacific Western Brewing Company in launching their new product Cariboos with a launch video played at the launch party, which has also been released online. Ardor Media has recently been focusing on research and development of its ideas for tourism, travel, and social issues to be aired on conventional television but also to be released in a new media environment. |
